Three local girls were members of the Birmingham Vipers Gen-X under-18 softball team, which placed second at the ASA national championship last week. Three local girls were members of the Birmingham Vipers Gen-X  under-18 softball team, which placed second at the Americak Softball Association national championship last week, held in Mattoon, Illinois.

The team included Blair Johnson, the state tournament MVP for Mortimer Jordan who will play her college ball at the University of South Alabama; Preslie Cruce, the Corner graduate who's headed to Western Kentucky University; and Gardendale senior Sara Beth Williamson.
