If you were looking for an offensive explosion, Robert W. Reid Stadium was the place Friday, as Oneonta defeated Hayden 42-32.
The two teams combined for over 1,000 yards of total offense.
Oneonta got on the board early after a Hayden punt on a 8-yard run by Schyler Walker in the first quarter.
The Wildcats answered when quarterback Corey Ward hit Dusty Harrison for three yards and a score.
Then the Redskins put two scores on the board in a span of five minutes. The first one came on a 5-yard run by Derrick Bell, followed by a 5-yard pass from Walker to Bell.
The Cats would put another score on the board before halftime when Ward hit Isaac Veitch for 14 yards. Hayden's two-point conversion failed.
Oneonta’s Lee Mitchell was on the receiving end of a 27-yard strike from Walker to close out the opening.
Seven minutes later Oneonta extended the lead to 35-12 when Walker and Bell connected again for a 19-yard touchdown pass.
Hayden’s Veitch got the second of his three touchdowns on the night on a 3-yard run with 17 seconds left in the third quarter.
Oneonta's Walker threw his fourth of five touchdowns on the night when Alvin Scott hauled in a 68-yard catch. The Skins had a 42 -18 lead with 11:48 to go in the game.
Hayden (2-3) scored two touchdowns in the final quarter. The first came on a 3 yard run by Veitch, followed by a 16-yard pass from Ward to Dusty Harrison.
Veitch had 19 carries for 66 yards rushing plus 16 catches for 215 yards receiving. Ward was 29-for-42 with one interception for 370 yards and three touchdowns.
