The Mortimer Jordan Lady Blue Devil went on the road Monday and won a slugfest in their area opener, as they topped the Curry Lady Yellow Jackets, 15-5 in five innings.
Four Lady Blue Devils had at least two hits as Jordan improved to 13-3 overall and 1-0 in area.
Blair Johnson went 2-for-3 with a run and three RBIs. Morgan Estell had a triple and a a home run, while scoring four times and driving in two runs.
Brandy Worden went 1-for-3 with three RBIs. Shelbey Faucett had a double and one RBI. Logan Woodward went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Erin Whitlock went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI.
Johnson (6-1), threw a five-inning, four-hitter, struck out nine and walked two. She allowed two earned runs.

The Lady Blue Devils trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning, but scored two runs to take the lead for good.
Estell tripled down the line and then scored on Faucett’s double to tie the game. Faucett would then come around to score to give Jordan the lead. Estell and Faucett both went 2-for-2. Michelle Cheatwood (7-1), threw a six-hitter and struck out two.

Johnson threw a complete game to pick up the win, allowing only one hit as she struck out 11. Woodward went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Worden went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Estell went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and an RBI.
Freshman Hannah Butts (1-3) threw 3 2/3 innings of three-hit ball and struck out three as the Lady Wildcats (6-8) held off Blount County rival Cleveland on Monday.
At the plate, Kris Quick went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Mara Conner went 2-for-4 with a double and one run scored.
Brittany Putnam went 3-for-4. Emily Sheetz went 2-for-4 and Madison Durham scored a run after reaching base on an error.
In the Wallace State tournament, Lady Wildcats fell to Alexandria in pool play. Conner went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Laila Russell went 1-for-3 with one run scored.
Conner went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and one run scored. Quick went 1-for-2 with a run scored. Russell went 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Hayden fell to 0-2 in pool play.
Fort Payne 2
Eighth grader Destinee Wade (2-1) picked up the win as the Lady Wildcats won their final pool play game. She threw five innings of two-hit ball and struck out five. Russell went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Eight grader Alex McDaniel went 2-for- 3 with a double.
In an elimination game, the Lady Wildcats fell to a Cullman squad they played earlier this season.
At the plate, Russell went 1-for-3 and scored a run. Hannah Butts went 1-for-2.
Conner reached on a fielder’s choice and later scored.
