Fultondale stayed within shouting distance in the first half, but Clay-Chalkville exerted its dominance in the second as they ran away with a 4-1 victory in girls soccer action Thursday.
Ariana Victoriano scored the lone goal for the Wildcats, when she scored in the 55th minute from a penalty kick, Victoriano had been fouled on the corner of the 18-yard box to get the chance from the spot.
The Cougars drew first blood on a goal by Jasmin Martinez 12 minutes into the match. The score stayed at 1-0 until Emily Brown intercepted a Fultondale goal kick and put a drive from 25 yards out into the back of the net in the 50th minute.
Victoriano's penalty halved the deficit minutes later, but Kaitlyn Cole scored for Clay-Chalkville seven minutes later when she recovered a muffed save by the Cats' keeper.
Rachael Joyce added the last goal, just five minutes before full time.
Fultondale (3-3) hosts Hueytown on Tuesday.
