Britani Faile

Britani Faile (middle) has been promoted to head coach of the Corner girls basketball team. Faile coached the Yellow Jackets’ junior varsity squad in 2018-19.

Corner’s girls basketball team will be under new leadership next season.

Britani Faile will replace Jeff Smith on the sideline in 2019 as the Yellow Jackets look to improve on a 16-10 record. Faile was offered the job on the final day of school and accepted the following week. She served as Corner’s junior varsity coach last year and also has previous experience as the junior varsity head coach at Pleasant Grove and the eighth-grade head coach at Fultondale.

This will be her first experience coaching at the varsity level, which makes her ‘a little nervous.’ She will be joined on the bench by assistant coaches Terrel Carlisle and Preslie Noris. Tryouts were held by Smith who put next year’s roster together before Faile was offered the job.

“I love these girls. They love the game and they’re going to put everything they can into it,” said Faile of her team.

Faile was a three-sport athlete at Fultondale from her seventh-grade year on up. She played basketball, softball and volleyball for the Wildcats before graduating in 2009.

“I played basketball and softball since I was like five years old and then when I got into middle school I decided that I wanted to do something else, so I also played volleyball,” said Faile. “From seventh grade to 12th grade I did volleyball, basketball and softball.”

In the classroom, Faile will teach both pre-calculus and algebra two with trig next year.
