Xavier Malcolm did all he could to single-handedly hold off Mortimer Jordan, but his 32 points just wasn't enough as his visiting Hanceville team lost to the Blue Devils 57-54 in Thursday boys basketball action.

The Blue Devils were behind by three points after three periods, but overcame the deficit thanks to the effort of Colby Moon, who got seven of his 12 points the in the final quarter.

Guard Clay Walker had the hot hand for Jordan, hitting 8-of-12 from the field to lead the team with 20 points. Sawyer Swindle also scored 12 for the Devils, and Levi Faucett grabbed 12 rebounds.

Malcolm sank four 3-pointers as part of his game-leading effort. Danté Reese also pulled down 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs (8-14), who are now on a four-game winning streak.

Jordan (13-6), winners of eight of their last nine, head south to play at rival Gardendale on Friday night.
