Tents circled the parking lot of Chick-fil-A in Fultondale Wednesday afternoon as people waited in line to receive a year’s supply of food.

For grand openings, Chick-fil-A gives away 52 combo meal coupons to the first 100 people in line.

People were allowed to register at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Owner Mike Holmes, who also owns the Gardendale Chick-fil-A, said that 100 people had registered by 10:30 a.m.

An additional 70 or 80 people stayed in hopes that someone in the first 100 would drop out.

Holmes said that Thursday was a “good first day” for the business.
