Rev. Grady L. McDowell, 86, of Gardendale, passed away on March 17 at Cullman Hospital. He was a resident of Gardendale for 55 years. He was a Baptist minister for over 55 years and retired from Campbell “66” Express after 28 years of driving a truck.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn McDowell, son Leon McDowell, his father, mother, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include daughter Virginia Norris of Mt. Olive, two sisters; Willa Dean (Hershel) Wilson of Hanceville, Imogene (Joe) Parker of Michigan, and one brother, James McDowell of Hanceville; daughter Rayeanne McDowell of California, four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, plus a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Gardendale Funeral Home on Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m., with burial at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, March 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be conducted by Rev. Brian Smith and Rev. Calvin Armstrong.
