Winter Wonderland Dance
Feb. 28 The sixth annual 2009 Winter Wonderland Dance with Edd Jones Band is scheduled for Feb. 28. In preparation for the dance, Jackie Tally and Andy Anderson will be teaching lessons each Tuesday night from 7 to 8 p.m. through Feb. 24 in the exhibition hall at the Gardendale Civic Center.

Senior Center Tours
The Gardendale Senior Center invites Gardendale residents to tour the center during the month of February for “Love Your Senior Neighbor Month.” This is for those who are age 60 and older or those married to someone 60 and older, or family to bring parents who need to get out and socialize or need better nutrition or exercise Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. Meals are served daily at 11:30 a.m., Bingo on Mondays and Thursdays; live entertainment on Tuesdays; exercise and speakers on senior concerns on Wednesdays; bluegrass on Thursdays; pancake breakfast and also a new introductory Spanish class on Fridays.

The Kimberly Fire Department is accepting names and telephone numbers for Kimberly residents to receive a free smoke detector. Mother’s Day Out
Enon Baptist Church’s Mother Day Out program will offer childcare for children 6 weeks to 4 years old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program follows the Jefferson County School System calendar, so is closed during all of the breaks. For more information call 647-9614.
Ginger Tunnell (Grammy) is teaching “Critter Club” at the Birmingham Zoo. This is a one hour class for 3-5 year olds. They will learn about a new animal each week and have hands on experience with a live animal.
