April 23, 10:30 a.m.

Pineywood Baptist Church will have an Easter egg hunt on April 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Lunch will follow.



April 22-24 Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold Tenebrae Good Friday services at 7 p.m. on April 22. You are invited to join them for this special “service of darkness” as they relive the final moments of Jesus’ life on earth. On April 23 they will hold their annual Easter egg hunt at 4 p.m. There will be games, prizes, eggs and more. April 23, 10 a.m. American Legion Post 255 will host an Easter egg hunt at Black Creek Park next to the walking bridge. Walker Chapel Baptist Church will give away Easter baskets. April 23, 10 a.m.

East Gardendale Baptist Church will hold an Easter egg hunt for children on April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be inflatables, games, popcorn, lemonade, candy and prizes. For more information call 608-0889 or visit www.eg-bc.org.



April 25-May 6 The Gardendale Beautification Commission will be touring the city during the above dates looking for yards that deserve beautification awards. For more information, call Louie Pearson at 631-9804.



April 26 Bragg Middle School's Future Problem Solvers teams will have a spirit night fundraiser at Zaxby's. A portion of the revenue will be donated to the teams. They are raising money for a trip to an international competition.

April 26 The second annual Pink Ribbon Run will be held  April 29, 6 p.m., at the Kenneth Clemons Gardendale Soccer Complex. For more information, call Tonya Brown at 631-5472.



April 30, 1-4 p.m. The 56th annual Belcher family reunion will be held on Saturday, April 30, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Mt. Olive First Baptist Church Family Life Center. For more information, contact Gloria Banes at 631-6677.



May 5-8 Boston butts will be sold for $30 each at Celebration Park at the Kenneth Clemons Athletic Complex. Proceeds benefit Cornerstone Ranch, a nonprofit, Christian organization. The hours are May 5, 4-6 p.m.; May 6, 10 a.m. to noon and 6-8 p.m.; May 7, 10 a.m. to noon and 6-8 p.m.; and (if needed) May 9, 10 a.m. to noon.



May 7, 6:30 p.m.

The Capstone Quartet will be at the Gardendale Civic Center on May 7 at 6:30 p.m. Soloist Mike Streetman and soloist Betty Phillips will also be performing. Sponsored by the Gardendale Arts Council. This is a free event.  For more info call 631-4883.

The Gardendale Senior Center hosts a dance every Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. Music provided by Men in Black: Jerry Bosworth, Jerry Bradley, Buddy Bailey, Paul Simpson, Skip Drake, and Roger Bailey.

The Jefferson County Department of Health will host free tot shot clinics the fourth Thursday of each month at Gardendale First Baptist Church in the Family Life Center, 3-5 p.m.



Gardendale Public Library offers free computer classes every Wednesday at 8 a.m. Four classes are offered: Basic Internet, basic computer, email and Word 2003.

Mt. Olive

April 21, 8:15 a.m. -2 p.m.

Mt. Olive Elementary School will hold registration for kindergarteners and new first graders at the school's office. Parents will need to bring the following items: The student's certified birth certificate (not the hospital's copy), proof of immunization (blue card), social security card, two forms of residence verification and a drivers license. Teachers will conduct a short assessment of each child to determine class placement.



May 6, 6 p.m.; May 7, 9 a.m.

Mt. Olive park day parade will be May 6 at 6 p.m. Park day festivities with games and food will be May 7 starting at 9 a.m. Call 677-0319 for more info.



Fultondale

Fultondale City Council meets the second Monday of the month at 6 p.m. and the fourth Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Fultondale City Hall. Meetings are open to the public. Call 841-4481.



Kimberly

May 7, 8-10 a.m. A pancake breakfast will be held at the Kimberly Senior Center as a fundraiser for Kimberly Christmas for Kids. On the menu is pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. The cost is $5 for all you can eat.



June 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A yard sale will be held at the Kimberly Community Center. Proceeds benefit Kimberly Christmas for Kids.

The Morris Beautification Board will hold its annual spring yard sale and bake sale at Masonic Lodge Hall at 8375 Old Hwy. 31. Donations such as clothes, furniture, tools, etc. will be collected April 25-27.

The Joyce Sanford Memorial Benefit Golf Tournament will be held at the Green Briar Golf Course. $30 per person includes breakfast, lunch and T-shirt. Space is limited to the first 60 players. June 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Church at Morris Quilt Ministry will host a Quilt and Needlework Show, which will include heirloom quilts, hand and machine quilted and miscellaneous needlework. The show is free and refreshments will be served. The church is at 8350 3rd Ave. N in Morris (intersection of Third Avenue N and Morris-Majestic Road).



Enon Baptist Church’s Mothers Day Out program will offer childcare for children 6 weeks to 4 years old on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program follows the Jefferson County School System calendar. Call 647-9614.

    Registration

    April 16 Snow Rogers and Gardendale Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten registration on April 16, 5-7 p.m. You must bring your child with you for a short assessment. The following documents must be provided for enrollment: Birth certificate; Social Security card; blue Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50), which should include two measles immunizations and one for chicken pox; two proofs of residence; copy of parent’s driver license; custody papers where applicable. Registration will be permitted without immunization certificate, but certificate must be presented before school begins on Aug. 12. A child’s fifth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. Child’s sixth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in first grade.     April 11 Please come out and support the Gardendale High School Rockets Baseball team on April 11. This will be the last regular season home game on the current high school field. There will be three games with the JV starting at 11 a.m. and the varsity playing the last game at 4:30 p.m.



    Revival

    April 12 Glenn’s Chapel Baptist Church will have a revival on April 12 at 6 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. Zac Reno is a 24 year-old evangelist and one of the finest of our day.
