Dec. 3 The Northern Area Realtor Caravan will be holding their Christmas breakfast and auction fund raiser at the Gardendale Civic Center on Dec. 3 at 8 a.m. Please join u s for a great time of food, fellowship, and the fun of bidding on the auction items. Christmas Home Tour
Dec. 7 Aegis Women’s Group is sponsoring its annual Christmas Home Tour on Dec. 7, 1-5 p.m. There are four homes on the tour. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased at In Full Bloom, at Merle Norman or from any Aegis member. No children younger than 10 allowed on the tour. Children 10 and older must have their own tickets.

Donations for the Gardendale High School Student Council Christmas Visions charity will be accepted by mail to 800 Main St. Gardendale, AL 35071. Donations will provide Christmas for hundreds of children in Jefferson County. Donations need to be received by Dec. 8

Christmas parade
Dec. 13 The town of Kimberly will host its fourth annual Christmas parade on Dec. 13 at 6 p.m. There is no entry fee. For an application, call Mona at Kimberly Town Hall, 647-5551. A tree-lighting ceremony will follow at Kimberly Memorial Park.
Smoke detectors
The Kimberly Fire Department is accepting names and telephone numbers for Kimberly residents to receive a free smoke detector. Residents who are elderly, have young children or are disabled qualify to receive the detectors, which will be installed by firefighters. Call Kimberly Town Hall at 647-5551.
Dance
There will be a senior citizens dance every Friday night at the Kimberly Community Building one block off Highway 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $3 each. No alcohol, foul language or children allowed on the dance floor. For more information call 942-1898.

Mother’s Day Out
Enon Baptist Church’s Mother Day Out program will offer childcare for 6 weeks to 4-years-old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. We follow the Jefferson County School system calendar, so we are out during all of their breaks. For more information call 647-9614.

Nov. 28 The deadline to nominate a family for the City of Morris Christmas Assistance Program is Nov. 28. Turn in contact information for the families at Morris City Hall. Families will be selected the first week of December. For nominations and questions, call Rachael Turner at 647-0596.
Christmas parade
Dec. 6 The Morris Christmas parade will be Dec. 6 at 10 a.m., with the staging area at Mortimer Jordan High School at 8:30 a.m. The $10 entry fee will help fund the city’s Families Helping Families Christmas program.

November West Blount Park is holding a Christmas toy drive this year called “Wildcats Helping Santa”. They will be accepting new toys, clothing items and donations (checks made out to “Wildcats Helping Santa”) from now through the month of November. Book-signing
Dec. 6 Kasey M. Carter will be signing her book, “Forever Altered, Yet Unbroken” on Dec. 6, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., during the Local Authors Expo at the Birmingham Public Library. The book is geared toward parents who have lost a child and need an encouraging message backed by God’s word.

Registration
April 16 Snow Rogers and Gardendale Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten registration on April 16, 5-7 p.m. You must bring your child with you for a short assessment. The following documents must be provided for enrollment: Birth certificate; Social Security card; blue Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50), which should include two measles immunizations and one for chicken pox; two proofs of residence; copy of parent’s driver license; custody papers where applicable. Registration will be permitted without immunization certificate, but certificate must be presented before school begins on Aug. 12. A child’s fifth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. Child’s sixth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in first grade. Last Game at Field
April 11 Please come out and support the Gardendale High School Rockets Baseball team on April 11. This will be the last regular season home game on the current high school field. There will be three games with the JV starting at 11 a.m. and the varsity playing the last game at 4:30 p.m.
