Auction
Nov. 13 There will be an auction and holiday celebration on Nov. 13 at Gardendale Civic Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. Auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds go to benefit the Love Lady Center. Enjoy refreshments, gifts and jewelry.
Craft Show
Nov. 14-15 The North Arts Council is presenting their Christmas Craft Show at the Gardendale Civic Center on Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Santa Claus will be there to have your child’s picture taken for a small fee. Concert
Nov. 14 Alabama Teen Challenge is putting together a benefit concert to be held at Gardendale’s First Baptist Church on Nov. 14, 7 p.m., with Shawn McDonald, Leah Faith and Jake Smith to perform. Teen Challenge is now celebrating it’s 50th anniversary of helping men, women, and teenagers defeat their drug and alcohol problem. Tickets for this event are currently on sale at www.itickets.com for $10 in advance or can be purchased at the door for $14. Groups of 10 or more are $8 each. Tasting Luncheon
Nov. 14 The North End Council of Garden Clubs will have a tasting luncheon on Nov. 14. Please join us between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door or in advance from a garden club member.

Smoke detectors
The Kimberly Fire Department is accepting names and telephone numbers for Kimberly residents to receive a free smoke detector. Residents who are elderly, have young children or are disabled qualify to receive the detectors, which will be installed by firefighters. Call Kimberly Town Hall at 647-5551.
Dance
There will be a senior citizens dance every Friday night at the Kimberly Community Building one block off Highway 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $3 each. No alcohol, foul language or children allowed on the dance floor. For more information call 942-1898.

Christmas parade
Dec. 6 The Morris Christmas parade will be Dec. 6 at 10 a.m., with the staging area at Mortimer Jordan High School at 8:30 a.m. The $10 entry fee will help fund the city’s Families Helping Families Christmas program.

November West Blount Park is holding a Christmas toy drive this year called “Wildcats Helping Santa”. Registration
April 16 Snow Rogers and Gardendale Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten registration on April 16, 5-7 p.m. You must bring your child with you for a short assessment. The following documents must be provided for enrollment: Birth certificate; Social Security card; blue Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50), which should include two measles immunizations and one for chicken pox; two proofs of residence; copy of parent’s driver license; custody papers where applicable. Registration will be permitted without immunization certificate, but certificate must be presented before school begins on Aug. 12. A child’s fifth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. Child’s sixth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in first grade.
