Gardendale

Revival

Nov. 12 Pineywood Baptist Church will be having a revival the services Wednesday at 7 p.m. featuring, Evangelist Bill Saye.

Auction

Nov. 13 There will be an auction and holiday celebration on Nov. 13 at Gardendale Civic Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. Auction begins at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds go to benefit the Love Lady Center. Enjoy refreshments, gifts and jewelry.

Craft Show

Nov. 14-15 The North Arts Council is presenting their Christmas Craft Show at the Gardendale Civic Center on Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Santa Claus will be there to have your child’s picture taken for a small fee. Concert

Nov. 14 Alabama Teen Challenge is putting together a benefit concert to be held at Gardendale’s First Baptist Church on Nov. 14, 7 p.m., with Shawn McDonald, Leah Faith and Jake Smith to perform. Teen Challenge is now celebrating it’s 50th anniversary of helping men, women, and teenagers defeat their drug and alcohol problem. Tickets for this event are currently on sale at www.itickets.com for $10 in advance or can be purchased at the door for $14. Groups of 10 or more are $8 each. Tasting Luncheon

Nov. 14 The North End Council of Garden Clubs will have a tasting luncheon on Nov. 14. Please join us between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased at the door or in advance from a garden club member.

Flag Football

Nov. 22 The NFL flag football program for boys and girls ages 6-14 is starting up in Gardendale. There will be a game on Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gardendale youth football field. Singing

Community Breakfast

Dec. 6 Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will be hosting a free pancake breakfast for the community on Dec. 6 from 9 to 11 a.m. Please call 631-9560 for more details.

Mount Olive

Free Child Care

There will be free child care in the Mt. Olive area for 3 and 4 year olds. The head start program is now enrolling for the summer. Regular full day childcare is offered. Call 608-1661.

Community Breakfast

Nov. 22 Eleventh Annual Fultondale Mayor’s Thanksgiving Prayer Breakfast will be taking place on Saturday, Nov. 22. Meet and greet

Nov. 14 The new Kimberly Town Council members will be at the Kimberly Senior Center on Nov. 14, 6:30-8:30 p.m., for a meet and greet.

Christmas in Kimberly

Nov. 21 The town of Kimberly will be taking applications for Christmas in Kimberly until Nov. 21. For more information, call Mona at Kimberly Town Hall, 647-5551.

Smoke detectors

The Kimberly Fire Department is accepting names and telephone numbers for Kimberly residents to receive a free smoke detector. Residents who are elderly, have young children or are disabled qualify to receive the detectors, which will be installed by firefighters. Call Kimberly Town Hall at 647-5551.

Dance

There will be a senior citizens dance every Friday night at the Kimberly Community Building one block off Highway 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. Cost is $3 each. No alcohol, foul language or children allowed on the dance floor. For more information call 942-1898.

Morris

Christmas assistance

Nov. 28 The deadline to nominate a family for the City of Morris Christmas Assistance Program is Nov. 28. Turn in contact information for the families at Morris City Hall. Families will be selected the first week of December. For nominations and questions, call Rachael Turner at 647-0596.

Christmas parade

Dec. 6 The Morris Christmas parade will be Dec. 6 at 10 a.m., with the staging area at Mortimer Jordan High School at 8:30 a.m. The $10 entry fee will help fund the city’s Families Helping Families Christmas program.

Gospel Singing

Toy Drive

November West Blount Park is holding a Christmas toy drive this year called “Wildcats Helping Santa”. They will be accepting new toys, clothing items and donations (checks made out to “Wildcats Helping Santa”) from now through the month of November. Meeting

Dec. 6 The Birmingham Chapter of the American Rosie the Riveted Association will be hosting its quarterly meeting on Dec. 6, 11 a.m. at Dale’s Southern Grill at 700 Montgomery Hwy, Vestavia Hills. All women who assisted on the home front during WWII and their male and female descendants are encouraged to join the fellowship. April 24: The annual Brookside Greenway Festival will include arts and crafts as well as yard sale spaces. Booth rent is $10 for a 10x10 space. Electricity can be provided. The only requirement is no junk. Vendors must clean their spaces after the event. Dumpsters will be provided. Applications available and fees payable at Brookside Town Hall. Town Hall Meeting

April 22 Choices and Consequences, a free town hall meeting for seniors, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gardendale Civic Center. Speaker Lynn Campisi, an elder law attorney, will enlighten seniors on the many choices available to them in terms of legal issues. Sponsoring vendors will have information available. Health Fair

Registration

April 16 Snow Rogers and Gardendale Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten registration on April 16, 5-7 p.m. You must bring your child with you for a short assessment. The following documents must be provided for enrollment: Birth certificate; Social Security card; blue Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50), which should include two measles immunizations and one for chicken pox; two proofs of residence; copy of parent’s driver license; custody papers where applicable. Registration will be permitted without immunization certificate, but certificate must be presented before school begins on Aug. 12. A child’s fifth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. Child’s sixth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in first grade. Flower Show

Indoor Yard Sale

Last Game at Field

April 11 Please come out and support the Gardendale High School Rockets Baseball team on April 11. This will be the last regular season home game on the current high school field. There will be three games with the JV starting at 11 a.m. and the varsity playing the last game at 4:30 p.m.

Revival

April 12 Glenn’s Chapel Baptist Church will have a revival on April 12 at 6 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. Zac Reno is a 24 year-old evangelist and one of the finest of our day. Night Time Easter Egg Hunt

April 4 The second annual night time Easter egg hunt will take place on April 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moncrief Park behind the tennis courts. This event is co-sponsored by The Church Revived and the city of Gardendale. There will be food, games and prizes. Bring your flashlight. Everything is free.
