Sept. 13 If you’re looking for a great place to shoot your bow, then check out the 3D Archery Shoot on Sept. 13 at Gardendale First Baptist Church "Camp David" Jones Chapel. Admission is free. GriefShare
Sept. 7 The First Baptist Church of Gardendale is offering a fall session of GriefShare for those who have lost a loved one. The sessions are designed to help the participants to go from mourning to joy. The cost is $12 for the workbook. Childcare is also available. Reunion
Oct. 3, 4 Gardendale's Alumni from the Class of 1968 are planning reunion activities the week-end of homecoming. They will not only participate in the parade, but will attend the game and enjoy homecoming festivities. 1968 was the first year that GHS had a graduating class and this is the group of students who experienced all the “firsts.” A large number of these graduates remained in Gardendale and have made a big contribution to the development of our city. They plan to attend the homecoming game on Oct. 3, then have a dinner and entertainment at the Exhibition Hall of the Gardendale Civic Center on Oct. 4. Mount Olive
Concert
Sept. 6 Daystar Church International is hosting a free Christian concert Sept. 6, 6:30 p.m., featuring Inside/Out. Concessions will be available. The church is on Shady Grove Road off of Mt. Olive Road. For more information, call 563-6605.
Donations for school
Now-Sept. 15 Superior Bank on Mt. Olive Road is collecting school supplies for Mt. Olive Elementary School from now until Sept. 15. K-5 supply lists are available at the bank, or drop off any supplies that the school can use. There is also a donation box to contribute cash.
Free Child Care
There will be free child care in the Mt. Olive area for 3 and 4 year olds. The head start program is now enrolling for the summer. Regular full day childcare is offered. Call 608-1661.
Warrior
Labor Day celebration
Sept. 1 Fireworks Unlimited LLC and County Line Fuel Z are sponsoring a Labor Day celebration in Warrior at the open area behind Fuel Z off of Cane Creek Road. The festivities begin around 10 a.m. and end with a big fireworks show at 9 p.m. There will be games, food for sale by Big Daddy’s Bar-B-Q and more. There is no charge to attend.

Friends of Rickwood Caverns
If you are interested in learning what friends of Rickwood Caverns State Park is doing to improve the park, come out and lend your support. Friends meet every 3rd Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the park office. This month's meeting will be on Aug. 19. We welcome your support and encourage your attendance.

Registration
April 16 Snow Rogers and Gardendale Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten registration on April 16, 5-7 p.m. You must bring your child with you for a short assessment. The following documents must be provided for enrollment: Birth certificate; Social Security card; blue Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50), which should include two measles immunizations and one for chicken pox; two proofs of residence; copy of parent’s driver license; custody papers where applicable. Registration will be permitted without immunization certificate, but certificate must be presented before school begins on Aug. 12. A child’s fifth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. Child’s sixth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in first grade. Last Game at Field
April 11 Please come out and support the Gardendale High School Rockets Baseball team on April 11. This will be the last regular season home game on the current high school field. There will be three games with the JV starting at 11 a.m. and the varsity playing the last game at 4:30 p.m.
Revival
April 12 Glenn’s Chapel Baptist Church will have a revival on April 12 at 6 p.m. and Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. Zac Reno is a 24 year-old evangelist and one of the finest of our day. April 4 The second annual night time Easter egg hunt will take place on April 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Moncrief Park behind the tennis courts. This event is co-sponsored by The Church Revived and the city of Gardendale. There will be food, games and prizes. Bring your flashlight. Everything is free.
