Spring Arts and Crafts Show
March 27 and 28 The North Arts Council will be having their spring arts and crafts show at the Gardendale Civic Center. There will be extended hours on March 27 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and March 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Approximately 50 vendors will be participating with a variety of crafts. You can also have your child’s picture taken with the Easter Bunny. There will be door prizes. If you would like to have a both, contact Angie Doss after 7 p.m. at 681-8028.
Open House and Grand Re-opening
March 28 There will be an open house and grand re-opening on March 28 for the North Jefferson Women's Center's new location at 1016 Mulberry Lane in Gardendale just off Fieldstown Road (turn by the Havoline Express). Ribbon Cutting will be held at 11 am and tours will be given until 1 pm. For more information please call 608-0757.

April 16-17 The Federated Garden Clubs of North End Council is hosting its 28th annual flower show at the Gardendale Civic Center. The show is open to the public on April 16, 2-7 p.m., and April 17, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, call Phoebe Limbaugh at 631-6137.
Magnolia Festival
April 18 The eighth-annual Magnolia Festival will be held at the Gardendale Civic Center on April 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will feature arts and crafts, classic car show, business expo, carnival rides, inflatables, pooch parade, live entertainment and a variety of food vendors. The Great Egg Drop
April 4 The Great Egg Drop will take place April 4 on Mount Olive Road about 2 miles west of I-65. There will be inflatables and free drinks and snacks while we wait on the helicopter to arrive. Bring the following to register: Two proofs of residence, blue immunization form, birth certificate, Social Security card, parent’s driver license, legal documents that contain pertinent information( such as custody papers, etc.). Mother’s Day Out
Enon Baptist Church’s Mother Day Out program will offer childcare for children 6 weeks to 4 years old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The program follows the Jefferson County School System calendar, so is closed during all of the breaks. For more information call 647-9614.

Brookside Greenway Festival
April 4 The 2009 Brookside Greenway Festival will be held on April 4 at Bensko Park from 6 a.m. to sunset. The event will feature the “Frenchie” Negron Classic Metric Century Bicycle Ride, Russian Wild Boar Off-Road Duathalon, arts and crafts, trade day vendors, fishing tournament, 5K and run run, canoe rides, an all-ages midway featuring rides and inflatables for kids, food vendors, cookie eating contest, motorcycle poker run and live entertainment. Critter Club
Ginger Tunnell (Grammy) is teaching “Critter Club” at the Birmingham Zoo. This is a one hour class for 3-5 year olds. They will learn about a new animal each week and have hands on experience with a live animal. This takes place on Tuesdays 10 -11 a.m. and 1:15 – 2:15 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays 10 – 11a.m. Register at the class or online at www.birminghamzoo.com (Education). Registration
April 16 Snow Rogers and Gardendale Elementary Schools will host Kindergarten registration on April 16, 5-7 p.m. You must bring your child with you for a short assessment. The following documents must be provided for enrollment: Birth certificate; Social Security card; blue Certificate of Immunization (IMM-50), which should include two measles immunizations and one for chicken pox; two proofs of residence; copy of parent’s driver license; custody papers where applicable. Registration will be permitted without immunization certificate, but certificate must be presented before school begins on Aug. 12. A child’s fifth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in Kindergarten. Child’s sixth birthday must be on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in first grade. Last Game at Field
April 11 Please come out and support the Gardendale High School Rockets Baseball team on April 11. This will be the last regular season home game on the current high school field. There will be three games with the JV starting at 11 a.m. and the varsity playing the last game at 4:30 p.m.
