Gardendale



Handbell Choir

July 9 Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will host Allegro, the high school handbell choir team from Trinity Lutheran Church. There will be a free concert tonight at 6:30 p.m. Dinner with be served at 5:30 p.m. For information call 631-6590.



Basketball Camp

July 15-17 Basketball Power Camps will be held at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. The boys camp will be from July 15-17 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and the girls camp will be July 22-24 8:30 to noon for rising first through sixth graders. The cost is $20.



Soccer

July 12, 19, 26 The Gardendale Soccer Club will be holding fall registration at the Gardendale Soccer Complex (off Fieldstown Road). Registration is for ages 3 to adults from 9 a.m. to noon on July 12, 19 and 26. Contact information: 631-2323, 631-9165 or www.socceronline.org.



Play

July 17-19 The Gardendale School of Fine Arts will present the Samuel French musical “Grease” on July 17-19 at 7 p.m. at the Gardendale Presbyterian Church. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the Martha Moore Library and the Gardendale Dollar Tree Store. For further information, contact director, Judy Watson at 631-4508.



Dinner and a Movie

Gardendale Friendship United Methodist Church will sponsor a dinner and a movie for the children every Friday night at 6 p.m. If you need assistance please call 285-9340.



TOPS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, Room 2028. Robert Pliner is the leader. For more information call 608-0606.



Pageants

July 26 and 27 The 2009 Miss North Jefferson County Scholarship Pageant, an official Miss Alabama preliminary pageant, will be held July 27, 2008. The 2008 Fund Raiser Pageant will be held on July 26 at Fultondale Elementary School at 6 p.m. Ages 0-12 are eligible.



Mount Olive



Free Child Care

There will be free child care in the Mt. Olive area for 3 and 4 year olds. The head start program is now enrolling for the summer. Regular full day childcare is offered. Call 608-1661.

Singing

July 13 The Dartts will be appearing at Gateway Baptist Church on Sunday, July 13 at 10:50 a.m. and 6 pm. A nursery is provided and plenty of parking is available. There is no cost to attend, however, a free-will love offering will be received to support The Dartts’ Ministry. Pastor Sam Greene and the entire Gateway Family welcome the whole community to attend. Registration

July 16 Bryan Elementary School will have new student registration on July 16, 8-11 a.m. Please bring the following items to registration: Blue immunization form, original birth certificate with seal, Social Security card, driver license, two current proofs of residency (utility bills), court documents such as custody papers, etc.



Reunion

July 11, 12 The annual Rogers-Thompson family reunion will be on July 12 at Enon Baptist Church’s educational building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A covered dish lunch will be held at noon. They will meet at the Glasscock-Rogers Cemetery in Hayden at 3 p.m. for a dedication ceremony of the cemetery and the unveiling of a sign with the cemetery’s name on it. Mother’s Day Out

Enon Baptist Church’s Mother Day Out program will offer childcare for 6 weeks to 4-years-old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. We follow the Jefferson County School system calendar, so we are out during all of their breaks. For more information call 647-9614.

Reunion

July 27 The annual Cruce family reunion will be held on July 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Warrior Community Center. All Cruce family descendants are encouraged to come and bring food to share. VBS and Revival

July 12; 21-25 Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hayden will have a vacation Bible school about God’s big back yard on July 12 from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lunch will be served. They will also hold a revival on July 21-25 at 7 p.m. with Bro. Tim Barnett. For more information call 647-1578.

Singing

June 29 Zola Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming 2008 on June 29. They will have dinner and singing with Sacred Harvest as the special singers after the 10 a.m. morning service.
