Gardendale
Garden Tour
June 7 and 8 The 2008 Gardendale Garden Tour will be June 7 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and June 8 from 1 until 4 p.m. Please call Maurene Guffin at 631-4871 for information. $5 tickets will be available at In Full Bloom, Wilson's Florist and at homes on the tour. Just follow signs.
Worship
June 8 Friendship United Methodist, Warrior and Morris Methodist will be worshipping at Sumatanga Camp in Gallant. They will leave the churches at 9 .m. Worship services will start at 11 a.m. Please bring a covered dish for buffet at lunch. There will be swimming, fishing, hiking and canoeing. For further assistance please call 285-9340.
VBS
June 9-12 Mineral Springs Baptist Church has called Bro. Keith Thomas as their pastor. The church will have VBS, June 9 -12 from 6 to8 p.m. Mineral Springs Baptist Church is located at 1501 Brookside Coalburg Road.
Benefit Concert
June 14 There will be a benefit concert for The Bell Center on June 14 at 6 p.m. at North Gardendale Baptist Church. The cost is $5 and donations will be greatly appreciated. There will be local Christian bands. The Bell Center is dedicated to maximizing the potential of children from birth to three years of age who are at risk for developmental delay. Fund Raiser
June 14 A taste and see dessert fundraising event for Alabama Teen Challenge will be held at Gardendale First Baptist Church June 14, 6:30-8 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the GFBC Encouraging Word Bookstore or at the door. Program includes testimonies from Teen Challenge students and special guest George Weeks. For more information, call Suzanne Smith at 780-2950.

Bible Study
June 17-July 15 There will be a community Bible study this summer on Kay Arthur's DVD Series "Lord, Teach Me To Pray, Practicing a Powerful Pattern of Prayer.” The dates are June 17, 24, July 8 and 15. Basketball Camp
July 15-17 Basketball Power Camps will be held at Gardendale-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church. The boys camp will be from July 15-17 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and the girls camp will be July 22-24 8:30 to noon for rising first through sixth graders. The cost is $20.
New Series
Gardendale-Mt Vernon United Methodist Church is beginning a series based on the second Chronicles of Narnia movie. We will explore the themes that come out of the movie Prince Caspian. Our services are 8:30 a.m., 9:45 a.m. and 11 a.m. The series will run for three weeks culminating on Father’s Day.
Dinner and a Movie
Gardendale Friendship United Methodist Church will sponsor a dinner and a movie for the children every Friday night at 6 p.m. If you need assistance please call 285-9340.
TOPS

Pageants
July 26 and 27 The 2009 Miss North Jefferson County Scholarship Pageant, an official Miss Alabama preliminary pageant, will be held July 27, 2008. The Outstanding Teen preliminary will also be held at this time. For forms go

Free Child Care
There will be free child care in the Mt. Olive area for 3 and 4 year olds. The head start program is now enrolling for the summer. Regular full day childcare is offered. Call 608-1661.

June 2-6 Walkers Chapel Baptist Church Vacation Bible School will be held June 2 - 6 from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. There will be snacks, games and prizes. An adult class will also be offered. A VBS parade will tour through the city on May 30, leaving the church at 9 a.m.
Homecoming
June 1 Apostolic Faith Assembly will have a homecoming on June 1 at 10 a.m. The guest singers will be Rocks of Faith.

Mother’s Day Out
Enon Baptist Church’s Mother Day Out program will offer childcare for 6 weeks to 4-years-old on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. We follow the Jefferson County School system calendar, so we are out during all of their breaks. For more information call 647-9614.
