Gardendale



Relay for Life

The North Jefferson Relay for Life season is under way. Help take up the fight against cancer. Singing

May 3 The Gardendale Arts council is sponsoring a gospel singing, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Gardendale Civic Center in the exhibition hall with Steel City. For more information call 631-4883. This is a free event.



Cemetery Clean Up

May 11 Friendship United Methodist Church will have a singing and decoration on May 11. Preaching is at 10:45 a.m., lunch at 12:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. It is also time for cleaning up for decoration. Each person is responsible for their own relatives graves. For more information call Vann Belcher at 631-3604.



Fund Raiser

June 14 A taste and see dessert fundraising event for Alabama Teen Challenge will be held at Gardendale First Baptist Church June 14, 6:30-8 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the GFBC Encouraging Word Bookstore or at the door. Program includes testimonies from Teen Challenge students and special guest George Weeks. For more information, call Suzanne Smith at 780-2950.



TOPS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets every Monday at 6 p.m. in the Family Life Center of First Baptist Church, Room 2028. Robert Pliner is the leader. For more information call 608-0606.



Mount Olive



Park Day

May 2, 3Mt. Olive Ballpark’s park day is May 3. The festivities will begin on May 2 with a parade that will leave the park at 6 p.m. and circle the Mt. Olive Community Center. Saturday will be full of activities including moon walk, super slide, cake walk and prizes. Green Top BBQ will be there. For more information call 516-0567.



Senior Awareness Fair

May 3 The senior awareness community fair will take place on May 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at Beechwood Baptist Church. It is all free as a service to the community. There will be refreshments, blood pressure checks and entertainment. There will also be free seminars. For more information call 631-4531.



Free Child Care

There will be free child care in the Mt. Olive area for 3 and 4 year olds. The head start program is now enrolling for the summer. Regular full day childcare is offered. Call 608-1661.



Fultondale



Dances

The Marlow Ballroom Dance is held the third Sunday of every month at Friendship Hall in Fultondale from 2-5 p.m. Cost is $8/person, dressy casual. Group classes are also held every Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Friendship Hall $10/person. For more information call 229-8240.

Our RLC/gifted class is looking for available individuals who lived or fought during World War II because we are writing a novel. We prefer information about the Fultondale, Gardendale and Birmingham areas. We appreciate the community help. Golf Tournament

May 3 Adamsville Church of God New Covenant Choir will hold the 10th annual golf tournament May 3. Registration is from 6-7 a.m. at Mountain View Golf Course in Graysville. For more information call Harold Hudson at 674-7696.



Dog Training

May 3 The Birmingham Obedience Training Club AKC sanctioned obedience trial for spring 2008 is at the Huffman Ball Park on May 3 and May 4. This is an all-breed event and the public is invited to come watch. Admission is free but bring your own chair. BOTC is a non-profit AKC affiliated organization. Breakfast

May 3 The Hayden Lions Club will hold a breakfast on May 3 from 7 to 10 a.m. in the Hayden Elementary School cafeteria. Tickets cost $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10 years old. This breakfast is a fund raiser to enable the club to continue supporting sight and diabetes programs on the local and state levels. For more information call Doug Reid at 590-1726.



Revival

Golf Tournament

May 17 A Hayden Band Boosters golf tournament is set for May 17, 8 a.m., at Plantation Golf Course in Hayden. It is a scramble top tournament. The cost is $50 per person or $200 per team.
