Kimberly Senior Center director seeks to meet with local seniors

Kimberly Seniors by Jody Newman

Special to The North Jefferson News

To Kimberly seniors: I have some exciting news for you. Your mayor, town council and myself, as senior center director, are thrilled to announce that the Kimberly Senior Center building is almost ready for the Jefferson County-supported programs and for your fun and fellowship to begin.

Besides serving nutritious meals five days a week, many activities and programs are planned, including nutrition education, pot luck suppers, pancake breakfasts, exercise, self improvement projects, music, art, reading, movies, day trips, word puzzles, dominoes, movies, crafts, holiday parties, computer classes, games, wellness seminars and health screenings.

Also, weekly educational speakers will cover a wide range of topics of concern to seniors, such as senior safety, scams, taxes, AARP, safe driving and many health topics of interest to us. Our goal is to promote healthy aging and be of service to our community.

In order to get started, I very much need to meet with each and every one of you (age 60 and up) during the week of May 5-9 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Please stop by town hall to register for the free meals offered by the county.

Also, I’d like to get to know you and get suggestions from you regarding what you would like to enjoy at our center. If you can’t come by town hall during those dates and times, feel free to call me at 608-2080 or 746-2292.

We have a beautiful new building to enjoy, but it will take you — our seniors — and the support of our community to be successful. Please join me and with your help, our senior center will be a happening place for good clean fun for all us folks over 60.
