James E. Teal

NORTH JEFFERSON — James E. Teal, 91, of Kimberly went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2012. He was a World War II veteran, serving in both the Atlantic and Pacific campaigns. He fought in every major battle on board the battleship, USS Nevada.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Teal; sons, Jerry Marcum (Erica) of Kimberly and Charles Marcum (Wanda) of Hueytown; daughters, Ginger Self Griffie (Gary) of Gardendale, Dinah Arnold (Dave) of Newman, Ga. and Emily Teal Reno of Trussville. He has 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brother, J. D. Teal (Estele) of Birmingham; six nieces and one nephew.

Pallbearers will be Trey Kennedy, Jamin Self, Paul Marcum, Dieter Marcum, Caleb Reno, Javan Reno, T. J. Griffie and Juan Mendiola. He was preceded in death by parents, Edward Alvin and Polly Doss Teal; sisters, Mary Aycock and Clarice Smith; son-in-laws, Don W. Self and James Eddie Reno.

Visitation was Wednesday, December 12 at Gardendale Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. with Calvin Armstrong officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Unity Baptist Church, PO Box 295, Kimberly, AL 35091.
