Thomas “Rudy” Sandlin

NORTH JEFFERSON — Thomas “Rudy” Sandlin, 72 of Kimberly passed away December 28, 2012.  Mr. Sandlin was retired from Southern Refrigeration. He was also co-owner of Sandlin Merchandise Store in Kimberly. He was a graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School and a member of Daystar Church International in Mt. Olive. Mr. Sandlin was also an ordained minister and served throughout the community as a Christian leader. He served on the Kimberly City Council and a former Mayor of Kimberly.

Mr. Sandlin was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Ercell and Nina Sandlin; sister, Minnie Ann Cheatwood and wife, Mary Sandlin.  

He is survived by his wife, Jody Sandlin; son, Thomas R. Sandlin, Jr. (Allison); grandchildren, Grant, Alexandra and Kyle Sandlin; brother, Noel Sandlin (Shirley); and several nieces and nephews.  

The funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at The New Gardendale Funeral Home with burial in Morris-Kimberly Cemetery. The family request memorials to Daystar Church International in Mt. Olive.
