NORTH JEFFERSON — Ethel Gordon, 85 of Helena, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2012. She was born Nov. 2, 1926 in Boligee. She was married to Paul N. Gordon Jr.

Elaine was a proud wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was very active in her church as she taught Sunday school and bible studies for many years. She was an active member of the Church of Nazarene, helena and a previous member of Forestdale United Methodist Church in Forestdale. Elaine loved growing roses, sewing and provided a multitude of her talent to so many of her family and friends with roses, flower arrangements, clothing, smockings, cross stitch and quilts. Elaine loved her family, friends and her community and would wish to glorify God with her death as she did in her life. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Chappell and brothers, Adrian Hitt and Edwin Hitt. She is survived by her husband, Paul N. Gordon Jr.; daughters, Paula G. (Robin) White, Janita (Gary) Tidwell, Brenda H. (Clyde) Cork, grandchildren, Chelsey W. Dennis, Jordan R. White, Juanita C. (Scott) Sanderford, Bryan (Tammy) Cork, Chris Tidwell; great-grandchildren, Colby Cork, Adam Cork, Erica Cork, Baden Sanderford, Emma Elaine Sanderford and Brodie Taylor Dennis and sister, Ruth Jernigan.

Funeral Services will be held Oct. 16 at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial in Crestview Memorial Gardens, Adamsville. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Elaine's name to the United Methodist Children's Home, Ministry Headquarters, 3140 Zelda Court, Montgomery, AL 36106-2607.
