He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Diane; daughter Heather Zauner (He was Papa Bear to Robert) and daughter, Brandi Stokes (Josh).
He was “Pawpaw” to seven grandchildren: Joseph, Bethany, Isabella, John Isaac Zauner, Savannah, Timber , Michaela Stokes. He leaves behind many friends.
He retired from the Birmingham Fire Department. He was past Southeast Director of The National Street Rod Association ( NSRA) and a graduate of Samford University.
In lieu of flowers, please give to the Wales Goebel Ministry/Save-a-life, 2908 Pumphouse Rd. Birmingham, AL 35243.
The family invites you to drive your Street Rod to the funeral.
A visitation will be on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with the funeral service Tuesday, July 1, 2014 2:00 P.M. with all services in the chapel of The New Gardendale Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
