NORTH JEFFERSON —
George D. Howard of Gardendale, was born on Saturday, June 19, 1926 in Cullman County and passed away on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the age of 87.
He attended Holly Pond High School and was retired from CSX Railroad after 26 years of service. George proudly served his country in the US Army and fought in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of the North Gardendale Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Howard; brother, Rayford Howard; and a daughter, Rhonda Harding.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife of more than 66 years, Ruth Howard; daughters, Beverly Davis (Jim) and Peggy Posey (Ted); six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with one soon to be. The family wishes to thank their two sitters, Lil Tinsley and Tammy Posey, along with Comfort Care Hospice for all care given at this time.
A visitation will be Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 5 until 8 p.m. with funeral services on Wednesday, August 14 at North Gardendale Baptist Church beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Moncrief Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to North Gardendale Baptist Church.
