Mrs. Nancy T. Smith

NORTH JEFFERSON — Mrs. Nancy T. Smith, 91 of Fultondale, passed away May 31, 2012. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (GiGi).  Nancy was a member of the Gardendale Church of God. A retired member of the A.E.A., she taught elementary education for 37 years, 18 of which were at Snow Rogers Elementary. She retired in 1981 to travel with her husband and enjoy her grandson. She was an avid seamstress and gardener, enjoyed arts and crafts and always enjoyed hosting gatherings of family and friends in her home, always doing more than needed.

Nancy was raised on a farm during the Depression where she learned the values that carried throughout her entire life, during which she saved everything.

Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Edward E. Smith. The last of her sibling to pass into heaven, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, John (Geneva) Treadaway and Fred (Goldie) Treadaway, and her baby sister Francis (Dr. French L.) Arrington.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Denise (Jerry) Nix, grandson Justin (Crystal) Nix, and great-grandson, Colin Nix. She will be greatly missed but is in a better place. We will see you again.

Services was held at Gardendale Funeral Home on Saturday, June 2 at 10 a.m. Interment took place at 1 p.m. at Highway Church of God Cemetery in Fyffe, Alabama. Reverend Wayne Turley and Dr. French L. Arrington officiating.
