NORTH JEFFERSON —
Kenneth Ray Smith, 66, of Birmingham passed away on Thursday, Janurary 3, surrounded by all his family after a short battle with cancer.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Karen Bryant Smith, and three sons, David (Katrena), Adam (Pia), and Michael (Crystal) along with five grandchildren: Reagan, Isabella, Josh, Troie and Morgan.
Ken graduated Tarrant High School in 1967 and also UAB in 1972 with a degree in business. Ken has owned his own business since 1988.
He was preceeded in death by his father and mother ,William Clyde and Opal Smith and two brothers, Frank D. Smith, and Ben T. Smith. He is also survived by 12 siblings: Chester Smith, Trussville; Wilma Yarbrough, Birmingham; Peggy S. Weems, Palmerdale; Shirley Peoples, Birmingham; Mary Tidwell, Birmingham; Ronald D. Smith, Tuscaloosa; Diane Frazier, Birmingham; Renee Schmitt, Birmingham; Susie Wills, Springville; John Michael Smith, Birmingham; Teresa S. Erwin, Mt. Olive and Lori Ellyn S. Steber, Alabaster.
A memorial service celebrating his life was held at Springdale Baptist Church, Tarrant, on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m.
