WARRIOR—The Warrior City Council heard at its meeting on Monday that the Warrior Fire Department has received a Federal Grant in the amount of $181,115.00. With this grant the department will be purchasing the following equipment: three LifePak 15 cardiac monitor/ defibrillators, two Automatic chest compression machines, two Stair chairs and two Powered stretchers.

The council approved requesting bids for the heart monitors, defibrillators and chest compression systems.

The department had 93 calls for transport last month so the additional equipment is expected to save them time and effort when responding to calls.

In other business, the council also:

•heard that the repaving on a specific area of Warrior Trafford Road will be completed in approximately three weeks, if weather permits. The section was not repaved during recent work, although it was scraped and re-striped.

•discussed the need to have some local businesses clean up around their business, particularly in advance of Warrior Day.

•hired a new full-time employee to fill an open laborer/ truck driver position in the street department. The candidate does have a CDL and was available to start work immediately.
