Wreck injures three

Three people were hospitalized Friday morning after a wreck on Mt. Olive Road between Tommytown and Overlook roads shortly after 9 a.m. Lt. Randy Christian of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said a 1993 Mazda 929 overturned after striking a culvert wall. The car was being driven by a 24-year-old Montevallo woman whose name has not been released as of press time. She also had two children in the car, aged 4 and 6. One child was listed in critical condition while the other child and the driver were listed as stable and satisfactory, Christian said.


Legion to celebrate 18th birthday

There will be an 18th birthday party today, 5-7 p.m., for the Hawkins B. Carter American Legion Post No. 255 in Fultondale. All members are invited. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. The event is open to members only.


Public works to collect unused cell phones

The City of Gardendale will be collecting old or unused cell phones on April 4. The city’s public works department will have a blue drop box at the Gardendale Civic Center in the exhibition hall from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The phones will be donated to a company for recycling. April 4 is also the day of the city’s “Clean Sweep” program which encourages residents and groups to help pick up litter around the city.
