Boys basketball: Pleasant Grove 53, Gardendale 48

GARDENDALE — Pleasant Grove avenged a loss to Gardendale earlier in the Clay-Chalkville Thanksgiving tournament, defeating the Rockets 53-48 in boys basketball action Tuesday night.

The Spartans had the hot hand from the field, hitting 20 field goals in 31 attempts (65 percent).

Trey Evans led Gardendale (3-5) with 13 points, with nine of those coming in a row to start the fourth quarter. He also handed out six assists, grabbed eight rebounds and tallied five steals. D.J. Lewis added 11 points.

Nate Bridges led all scorers with 18 points for the Spartans (2-5). Darius Williams had 14 points and Derrick Little 13.
