Boys basketball: Gardendale 78, Tarrant 44

GARDENDALE — Trey Evans had the hot hand, scoring 20 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the Gardendale boys ran over visiting Tarrant with a 78-44 mercy-rule victory Monday.

Evans was on fire from the floor, hitting nine baskets in 10 attempts (90 percent).

D.J. Lewis scored 11 points and Michael Sadler added 10 for the Rockets.

Alan Frost led the Wildcats with 16 points, and Marques Dill scored 13, including Tarrant's one and only free throw of the game.

Gardendale heads to Hueytown Tusday night.
