Boys basketball: First Assembly Christian 57, Tabernacle Christian 46

SYLACAUGA — With top scorer Caleb Thompson on the sidelines with an ankle injury, Tabernacle Christian's boys suffered defeat on the road at the hands of First Aseembly Christian of Ashland on Friday, falling by a 57-46 score.

"He is averaging 25.2 points per game this season, and we could have used a few of those last night," Torches coach Matt Grimes said of Thompson. "He makes a big difference."

Thompson will be out until Jan. 25, Grimes said.

LeLand Steed led all scorers with 28 points for the Lions, and Colin Crawford added 16.

Jud Sims scored 14 points and John White 13 for the Torches, who drop to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in ACEAA play. They host Marion on Tuesday night.
