Girls basketball: Pleasant Grove 49, Pinson Valley 25

PINSON — Pleasant Grove's girls basketball team only dressed out six players in Friday's game at Pinson Valley. But as it turned out, that was one more than necessary.

The Spartans were in command from the opening tip-off, as they dominated the Indians 49-25.

Aaliyah Myers didn't get cranked up until the second quarter, but she made up for lost time after that to lead Pleasant Grove (5-8) with 32 points. Chelsie Taylor scored 12 points and Ciera Smith added 10.

Destini McKinney led Pinson (4-7) with nine points.

The Indians host Moody next Tuesday in a Class 5A Area 11 contest.
