Hayden Christmas Tournament: Hayden 59, Hewitt-Trussville 36

HAYDEN — Grayson Taylor scored 13 points and Katie Parr recorded yet another double-double, as Hayden's girls basketball squad rolled over Hewitt-Trussville 59-36 in the first round of the Wildcats' own Christmas Class tournament Thursday.

Parr grabbed 11 rebounds, scored 19 points and had seven steals for the Cats (9-3), who ended a three-game losing streak after opening the season with eight straight victories.

Taylor also handed out seven assists.

DeeDee Jones scored 13 points and Morgan McLain added 11 for the Huskies.

Hayden plays their semifinal game against Hueytown at approximately 8:30 p.m. Friday. A consolation-bracket semifinal leads off the action at 4 with Mortimer Jordan and Cordova, followed by Hewitt and Fairview. Homewood takes on Good Hope in the other winner's bracket semifinal at 7.
