Girls Basketball: No. 10 (4A) Locust Fork 53, Hayden 37

HAYDEN — Kasi McMillan scored 22 points and hauled in 14 rebounds, as Class 4A 10th-ranked Locust Fork broke away from Hayden in the second quarter, rolling to a 53-37 road victory.

The teams were tied at 17-17 after the first quarter, but the Hornets pulled out to a five-point lead at intermission, and increased the lead steadily the rest of the way.

McMillan was 6-of-12 overall from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point territory. Kristen Cox scored 14 points, and Selena Hart had four steals plus six points as Locust Fork (10-3) avenged an earlier loss to the Wildcats.

Grayson Taylor led Hayden (8-2) with 13 points and five assists, while Katie Parr contributed 18 rebounds and eight points.

The Hornets are off for Christmas break, resuming play on Jan. 4 at Sardis, while the Cats host West Point on Tuesday night.
