FULTONDALE — What was expected to be a close Class 2A game turned out to be anything but, as Fultondale rolled in its home opener over Ohatchee by a 54-12 score.
Brandon Lewis had the big night individually, sunning for touchdowns of 51 and 10 yards back-to-back early in the third quarter. He also caught a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kris Lewis. for the night, Brandon Lewis ran six times for 88 yards, as the Wildcats spread the offense around.
Kyree Robinson ran 12 times for 125 yards, including touchdowns of 20 and 2 yards.
Kris Lewis also threw a scoring pass to Anton Wheeler early in the game, and ran for a 2-yard touchdown in the third.
Jamarcus Hollis also had a 1-yard TD dash in the fourth period.
The Indians scored on a 97-yard kickoff return by Jaylyn Spinks, plus a late 5-yard run by Austin Tucker.
The Wildcats ran early and often, gaining 258 yards on the ground. Kris Lewis was 4-for-5 passing for 77 yards. Ohatchee was held to just 165 yards total offense; Braxton Starks led the Fultondale defense with eight tackles, and Antwon McCary added seven.
The Wildcats (2-0, 1-0 region) travel to Woodland next week.
