MERIDIAN, Miss. — Caleb Lindsey threw a touchdown pass to Tristan Lash and ran for another score, but it wasn’t enough for Tabernacle Christian as they lost to a much larger Russell Christian squad by a 42-22 score.
But even worse for the Torches, they may have lost their top offensive threat in Tristan Castro. He was injured late in the game when he was driven head-first into the turf on a tackle. Castro was taken to a hospital emergency room in Meridian, where he remained late Friday night.
Lindsey scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter, then connected with Lash for a 20-yard touchdown pass in the third.
Andrew Branham scored Tabernacle’s final touchdown on a 3-yard run late in the fourth quarter.
Lindsey finished the game with 14-for-22 passing with 159 yards and two interceptions. Lash caught six receptions for 67 yards.
Lindsey also ran 16 times for 62 yards, while Will Cousins went 82 yards on 12 carries.
The Torches finish their regular season with a 5-4 record. They have an open date next week, while other Christian Football Association teams battle it out to determine playoff seedings.
