Jordan running back Dee Merriweather racked up 95 yards of total offense with one receiving touchdown. Hodges dumped it to him in the flats and Merriweather did all the work from there, going 25 yards to the end zone and drawing first blood in the opening quarter.
“It was a scat play, no one was covering [Merriweather] and he made one guy miss and got big yards,” said Hodges.
Hodges only threw the ball 12 times all night, but completed eight of them for 119 yards and two touchdowns. Six of those catches went to wide receiver Logan Motte for 82 yards and a touchdown.
The big play of the night for the Tigers (1-3, 1-2 region) came from Isaiah benson, who scored on a 65-yard run. Zack Mayo also had a 1-yard touchdown rush.
The Blue Devils (2-2, 2-1) defense was led by Dontress Green, who had nine tackles. Moon also chipped in with seven tackles and an interception. Linebacker Caleb Foshee showed good awareness as he recovered a Springville fumble in the end zone.
“We are 2-1 in region and we just need to keep momentum up,” said Hodges.
