Softball: Vestavia Hills 6, Gardendale 4

VESTAVIA HILLS — Vestavia Hills rallied for five runs in the sixth inning, as they came back to defeat visiting Gardendale 6-4 in Tuesday softball action.

The Rockets took an early 3-1 lead, thanks to a sacrifice fly by Cris Gant and a two-run base hit by Baleigh Moffett. But the Rebels took the lead on a pair of RBI hits, two fielder's choice plays that scored runs plus an error.

Kristin Graham scored on a passed ball in the top of the seventh.

Gant worked five innings as the starting pitcher before running into trouble in the sixth. Graham took over, but gave up four runs on three hits.

Caroline Burns was 2-for-4 with a run scored for Gardendale. Taylor Coe was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for the Rebs.

The Rockets (14-9) host Carver on Thursday.
