OAK GROVE — Chase Best found Dylan Adamson in the end zone with 49 seconds left to play, as Corner pulled out a 21-18 come-from-behind win over Oak Grove Friday night.
Having just held the Tigers to a field goal on the previous drive, the Yellow Jackets marched downfield as time ticked away, and got down to the Oak Grove 7-yard line when Best connected with Adamson.
The Tigers got on the board first when quarterback Austin Lawrence scored on a 1-yard run three minutes into the game. The Jackers answered with a 2-yard scoring charge by Best, then took the lead in the second quarter on a 5-yard touchdown from Hunter Doppler.
Oak Grove (1-5, 1-3 region) tied the game when Lawrence connected with James Patterson for a 23-yard scoring toss early in the fourth quarter. They then took the lead on a 32-yard field goal by Daniel Murkerson with 5:07 left to play.
Doppler led the Corner ground attack with 105 yards on 20 carries. Best was 10-for-18 in passing for 121 yards, Dylan Hand caught six passes for 95 yards.
Jake Averhart paced the Jackets defense with 14 tackles, three of them for losses.
Corner (3-3, 2-2 region) finishes a five-game road stretch when they travel to Jemison next week.
