MILLBROOK — Quarterback Caleb Lindsey ran for a pair of touchdowns and passed for two more, as Tabernacle Christian breaks through to a winning record for the first time this season with a 42-18 win at New Life Christian in a Christian Football Association eight-man game.

The Torches jumped on the Eagles early, taking the lead right off the opening kickoff with a 75-yard return by Tristan Castro. New Life answered with a 75-yard score on their first play from scrimmage, but it was all Tabernacle from there as they reeled off four straight scores.

Lindsey scored on a 9-yard run in the first quarter and a 2-yard run in the second. He found Austin Hamlett for 18 yards and a touchdown, then hit Castro for a 53-yard strike just before halftime to give the Torches a 42-12 advantage at the break.

The second half was played under a running clock.

Lindsey was 7-for-11 passing for 108 yards. Castro caught five receptions for 84 yards and ran eight times for 69 yards, as Coach Keith Dabbs spread the offense around a bit.

Tabernacle (4-3, 2-1 CFA) tries to clinch home-field advantage in the CFA semifinals with a win at home next week against First Assembly Christian.
