Baseball: Gardendale 15, Center Point 1 (6 innings)

CENTER POINT — Pitcher Dalton Moore picked up his third win of the season, this time in relief, as Gardendale rolled over Center Point 15-1 in six innings, as the two teams played their first game of the Jefferson County Schools Baseball Tournament.

Moore struck out five and allowed just three hits in four innings. He came in for starter Seth Alford, who gave up the Eagles' only run.

Carter Burns was 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in two runs. Moore was also 2-for-2 with one RBI. Hunter Crook was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Joseph Calvert hit a two-run single. Bryce Jay also had a double, a single and an RBI for the Rockets (6-2).

Zak Jones drove in Center Point's only run, and was 2-for-2. Oliver Jones took the loss for the Eagles.

The Rockets host Clay-Chalkville on Tuesday and Corner on Wednesday as county tournament play continues.
