Baseball: Gardendale 12, Shades Valley 0 (5 innings)

IRONDALE — Gardendale was still sharp a day after wrapping up a second Jefferson County Schools championship, and made short work of host Shades Valley with a 12-0 victory in five innings Thursday.

Hunter Crook was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs for the Rockets (10-3). Joseph Calvert also had a run-scoring double, and Carter Burns drove home a run on a sacrifice.

Dalton Moore improved his season record to 4-0 with four solid innings, allowing just two hits while striking out two Mounties. Chase Graveman pitched one inning of relief.

Tanner Henton was 2-for-3 at the plate for Shades Valley.

Gardendale hosts arch-rival Mortimer Jordan on Friday evening at 7.
