McCleney again: Former Mortimer Jordan standout is SEC Softball Freshman of Week for second time

Stop if you've heard this before, but Alabama's Haylie McCleney is the Southeastern Conference Freshman Softball Player of the Week.

The former Mortimer Jordan standout and Morris native had another big week, as the top-ranked Crimson Tide stampeded through their own Easton Bama Bash tournament last week.

For the third straight week, McCleney led the Tide in hits and runs scored. She batted .611 with nine runs, two doubles, a home run, nine RBIs and four stolen bases.

McCleney had four multi-hit performances six games last week, including three games with three hits. She scored at least one run and reached base in all but one game and was named the Easton Bama Bash Tournament MVP for her efforts.

It's the second time this season that the SEC has given the award to McCleney. She won it in the first week of the season.
