OXFORD — Tabernacle Christian jumped out to an early lead and maintained it the rest of the way, as they defeated Chilton Christian 54-44 on Thursday in the first round of the Alabama Christian Education Athletic Association's Division I boys basketball tournament, held to Oxford High School.
Caleb Thompson led the Torches with 21 points; he also grabbed eight rebounds. John White added 18 points and Shiver Winchester had 13 rebounds.
Landon Hall scored 21 points and Chris Lassinger added 19 for Chilton.
The Torches play in the semifinal round Friday evening.
