The Tigers got home runs from Tanner Brown and Courtney Hood, who also added a double in the 14-4 five-inning mercy-rule win. Brown’s homer ended the game in the bottom of the fifth, as she launched a 0-1 pitch from Madison McCormack to score herself, Hood and Hannah Woods.
Corner banged out eight hits, but also committed five errors. Entrekin slammed a two-run homer and an RBI single to account for most of her team’s offense.
With their neighbors sidelined, Hayden is now the last local team remaining in the state tournament. They begin their Class 5A campaign Friday at noon as they take on Shelby County. Win or lose, their second game will be played at 7 p.m.
