Boys area basketball tournaments: Altamont 76, Fultondale 75 (OT)

VINCENT — For Fultondale's boys basketball team, this game will be the one that got away.

The Wildcats were up by four points with 86 seconds left in overtime, but couldn't hold onto the ball. And with just five seconds to go, Altamont's Brindon Sutton drove to the hoop for a game-winning lay-up, as the Knights knocked off the Wildcats 76-75 in the first round of the Class 2A Area 13 tournament at Vincent.

Fultondale had one last chance to win it, but an ArDarius Stewart's shot clanked off the rim right before the final horn.

Travez Hicks led the Cats with 18 points, Antwan McCary scored 13 and Blake Reno had 12.

Sutton led all scorers with 29 points fo rthe Knights.

Fultondale ends it season with a 10-9 record.
