Boys basketball: Clay-Chalkville 81, Pinson Valley 76 (OT)

CLAY — Pinson Valley's Marcus Merriweather scored 31 points, and went 4-for-4 on 3-point shots, but it wasn't enough to put away homestanding Clay-Chalkville, who came from behind late in regulation and pulled away for a 81-76 overtime win Friday.

The Cougars tied the game at the free throw line in the last minute of the fourth quarter, held their collective breath as several Indians shots went for naught.

Clay then rallied behind Marcus Baldwin, who scored the first five points of the extra period.

Johnathan Marable had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Pinson (9-5). Zach Jackson also scored 13, and Devin Gary added 10.

Hasan Abdullah, Sean Burrell and Cory Judkins each scored 13 for the Cougars (10-2).

The Indians next play in the WQSB/Albertville Civitans Christmas Classic on Thursday.
