Baseball: Corner 10, Curry 2

CORNER — Blake Byrd was 3-for-3 with two triples, a double and three runs scored, as Corner routed visiting Curry 10-2 in Friday baseball action.

Starting pitcher Cody Gilbert withstood a rough first inning and two unearned runs, and gave up only two hits in the complete-game win. He struck out six, and only allowed seven Curry batters to reach base safely.

Kerry Smith was 2-for-2 and scored twice. Cole Lepchitz also scored two runs after reaching on a walk and an error.

Chad Gann was the losing pitcher for Curry.

Corner plays in a tri-series at Clay-Chalkville on Saturday, along with Paul Bryant.
