TROY — Scott Falkinburg's double in the top of the seventh drove in the two winning runs, as Pinson Valley defeated Walker 6-4 in the Terry Sikes Memorial Tournament at Troy University.
Falkinburg's two-out hit brought home Joseph Bryant and Jordan Downing, breaking a 4-4 tie.
The Vikings scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. Downing put the Indians on the board with a triple in the second that scored Bailey Chesser, and got another run back when Falkinburg singled home Gracen Armstrong.
Richard McCarty gave Walker another run on a fourth-inning double. But Pinson tied the game in the fifth on a run-scoring single by Downing, followed by a passed ball that allowed Armstrong to reach the plate.
Falkinburg finished the game 3-for-5 with three RBIs, Downing was 2-for-2 with two runs driven home.
Baker Hodge relieved starter Brent Stephens, after Stephens was chased without recording an out. Chesser closer the game, getting the win after working the seventh inning.
