SPRINGVILLE — Tanner Earley hit a two-run double, and followed it with a solo home run as her Springville team defeated Pinson Valley 4-1 in a Class 5A Area 11 softball game Monday.
Earley's double to center field in the third inning scored Kaylee Chapman and Hayden Henderson; she then scored on Kari Gipson's subsequent double. In the fifth, Earley took a 2-0 pitch over the left field fence for a lead off solo shot.
Destiny Cole's hit in the sixth brought home Emmie Waldrop for the Indians' lone run.
Pitcher Savannah Caswell got the win, striking out four Pinson batters while giving up five hits. Jenna Trimm allowed eight hits in the loss.
The Indians host Corner Tuesday afternoon.
