It's Foggy Friday, whatever that means...

Weather: Can't seem to see. There will be fog throughout the area, dense in some spots, until mid-morning. The fog will eventually give way to sunny skies and a high in the lower 70s. Clouds roll in tonight, but no rain – just s low in the lower 50s. The weekend will be mostly clear with chilly nights in the lower 40s and highs in the lower 70s.

One killed in Carson Road crash. A three-vehicle wreck near the intersection with Indian Valley Road, just outside the Fultondale city limits, claimed the life a driver who was attempting to pass another vehicle. That driver's vehicle then ran into another coming the opposite way, which could not swerve away in time. One other person was critically injured and transported to a downtown hospital; two others, both children, were also injured but less seriously. Their identities have not been released yet until next of kin are notified.

Rock School gets new owners. The city of Pinson has closed the deal on the old Rock School, which it purchased from Solid Rock Church, which itself has moved to the old New Covenant Church property on Pinson Valley Parkway. Now the city council will consider the purchase another bit of local history – an old railroad hotel on Spring Street that most recently housed a law office. The building, which is in foreclosure, lies just to the north of the abandoned Louisville and Nashville Railroad line, and is offered to the city for $10,000. The council will vote on the offer at its next meeting on November 4.

Fultondale man arrested on gambling charges. The Daily Mountain Eagle in Jasper reports that Salahdeen Ahmed Tylinski, 24, was arrested by Dora police after an undercover investigation showed two gambling machines were in use inside a Burnwell store that he owned. The machines, cash and records were seized in a raid on Wednesday. Tylinski faces charges of promoting gambling and possession of gambling devices; the charges could carry jail sentences of a year each.
